Weekly round-up #266
In February, VALIDATE hosted a seminar on the prevalence of melioidosis in southern Thailand. Dr Apichai Tuanyok presented research which highlighted the presence of Burkholderia pseudomallei, the pathogen causing melioidosis, in humans, animals, and the environment. In this seminar, Apichai discussed the extensive study that emphasized the importance of a "One Health" approach and called for continued monitoring of this endemic disease in the region.
