About the Seminar
Join Dr Cristian Alfredo Segura-Cerda and Dr Suventha Moodley to hear about their exciting VALIDATE-funded projects on public engagement with vaccines in Mexico and upper-airway bacterial colonisation in children with tuberculosis.
In 2025, VALIDATE launched the Directors’ Fund, offering grants of up to £5,000 for innovative activities supporting research, career development, capacity building and public engagement within VALIDATE’s remit.
Our Directors’ Fund seminar series gives awardees an opportunity to share progress, discuss challenges and explore the potential outcomes and benefits of their work.

LINE: Vaccines Around the City
This science communication campaign brings accessible, reliable vaccine information to the public in Guadalajara, Mexico. Through live talks, interactive exhibitions in metro stations and inclusive digital content, the project aims to strengthen vaccine confidence, address misinformation and inspire children and young people to consider scientific careers.

Understanding Upper-airway Pathobiont Colonization and Risk Factors in Paediatric Tuberculosis (UPLIFT-TB)
This project investigates upper-airway colonisation by potentially disease-causing bacteria in children with tuberculosis before treatment, comparing them with children without TB. It aims to standardise nasopharyngeal sampling methods and improve the interpretation of future paediatric vaccine studies, with potential applications across other VALIDATE priority pathogens.
There will be time for questions and discussion following the presentations.
